A wee bit about me

This is me, the photographer!

The first words I hear upon meeting almost every new client is “I HATE having my photo taken”.   I too, HATE having my photo taken so I feel your pain!

I love what I do, which makes the whole process easier.   Each and every person has a special something to bring to the table, I have yet to photograph and uninteresting person.  You too will bring that quirky smile or freckly face, whatever it is; I will find it.

I was born and raised in Ireland and left when I was 18 years old.  I left because at that time, Derry (Northern Ireland) was in turmoil, jobs were few and far between and I wanted more.  I left with the intentions of coming for a year and here I am, many years later, still here.

I have lived in NY, CT and ended up here in FL.  I have held many positions, some for years, some for a few months – my many titles have included: Director of Administration for a large International Reinsurance company, a waitress in a busy NY diner, a teller taking bets at a racetrack, a gift-wrap girl at A&S (at Christmas time), a Mortgage Administrator and a Nanny – all the while photographing people and studying photography techniques as a hobby.  It was a far off dream to someday photograph for a living, I never thought I could or would succeed.

Then, my daughter was born.  I wanted to stay home and raise her but needed an income so I started advertising “Family Beach Shoots” for $50.  I built up my portfolio, made my own website and before I knew it, I was photographing weddings!

Today, not only do I freelance weddings, portraits and product photography but work full time “drumroll” as a Staff Photographer for SCB Marketing, shooting covers and feature articles for SpaceCoast Living, SpaceCoast Business and specialty publication magazines.  I truly have succeeded and am working my dream job;  I thank God every day.

I learn something new at every photoshoot and encourage you to bring ideas, sometimes they are better than my ideas – you know you better than I do!
